Nob mentions he is entitled to the Purple Heart. He recalls being wounded and not feeling safe in the field house. Therefore he returns to his unit. Nob also discusses VFW Magazine (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and an article that will showcase his service with the 6th Division.

Nob discusses the heroism and dedication of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). Nob recalls a time in Okinawa when the MIS tries to persuade civilians to get out of the cave. Nob says he did not have feelings of fear during the war. His feelings are motivated by patriotism.

After completing the training at Military Intelligence Service Language School, Nob goes camping Shelby. At Camp Shelby, the 100th and 442nd are training too. Nob says it is a friendly competition between the 100th, 442nd, and MIS during training. Nob says the African Americans are treated worse than Japanese Americans. Nob discusses segregation.

Partial Transcript: Nob feels the 100th and 442nd have a lot of publicity for their contributions during World War Two. Therefore, Nob wants to share his war experience. Moreover, he gets encouragement to make an oral history. At the being of the war, the Marines did not use the assistance of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS), and they have a high casualty rate. Whereas General MacArthur is a lower casualty for using the MIS. In the past, there have been requests for Nob to speak to students about his war experiences, but Nob says he gets too emotional. Hence, he declines. Making the oral history with the Hanashi Oral History Program has been therapeutic for him.
