INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: When I arrived at the airport, there were two planes and you know which plane I got on. So I left Calcutta, and I returned to New York via the Suez Canal. And as the Liberty Ship approached the Statue of Liberty we all hugged each other in joy. And as we sailed into the harbor, I could see the crowd waving the stars and stripes. And as we were about to dock the band struck up the song, "Sentimental Journey." And I said to myself, it was a journey. It was a journey that took me around the world in 26 months at government expense. And I wished they had told me that I had a round trip ticket. But it was a great feeling. It was a journey that I took on my own volition, serving my country as an American. Exercising my right and duty.
