INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: Our mission as a long range penetration was to penetrate behind enemy lines. And to destruct and cut through supply, communication, and to confuse the enemy. And while we held certain positions, the American trained Chinese troop made the frontal attack. And this went on until the end. But our major objective was to clear the Northern Burma and capture the Myitkyina air field, which is the all weather airfield. Which would enable the Ledo Road to connect with the old Burma Road. And thereby re-establishing the supply line to China. By occupying Myitkyina air field, we would enable the American pilots to change their course and fly a more favorable route. Also, we were able to get more supplies to the Chinese.
