INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: Interviewer: What was your first experience of battle? Listening to what they call your 88s. You can hear them coming. Actually I remember we were storming this one home. It was where one of my good friends, he was wounded and he left me then. In fact, he's passed away now. I don't know, all during the war it was just like I was playing “cops and robbers.” I knew I had to survive because I've heard friends of mine, because they told me who he was, crying to help him, help him. And we couldn't go out to help him. It was like a trap. The Gerry’s had him there wounded. He cried all night. He was from K Company.
