INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: We had a meeting. After the meeting, drinking beer and talking. So somebody asked me, "hey Sam, what made us different?" So I tell him, well, in that town, if I was in a separate white boy's unit, I don't know if I would be alive today. So the guy asked me, "why?" I said, well, our unit was different in a sense that when they ordered to you to go, everybody, I mean, I wouldn't say everybody, but practically everybody in unison went. But we watched the white boys. Lucky to get half of the guys to move. You know, when you get all the unit moving in one time, oh, you get plenty target. But every man on the other side, they have only one gun, right. Who they going to shoot? You understand what I am saying? So they get confused, maybe ten guys shooting at the same guy. That leaves many guys free to move. So I say, from what I can see, I think these are the reasons you know, the generals in a sense, observed us and watching us, they were surprised. We would move all in unison. When they tell you "go," they go. But for that, we lost plenty.
