CURRICULUM GUIDE
Since the debut of its documentary “A
Tradition of Honor,” the Go For Broke National Education Center
has worked to create a curriculum guide that provides teachers
with the necessary materials to incorporate the Japanese American
World War II veteran experience into the classroom. As a result,
“A Tradition of Honor” Teacher’s Guide was developed
as a comprehensive resource to educate students on this significant
aspect of U.S. history.
“A Tradition of Honor” Teacher’s Guide contains
everything needed to assist educators in preparing assignments
and engaging students in classroom discussions. Each pre-constructed
lesson plan corresponds to a section of the documentary, reinforcing
key facts and ideas through both textual and visual media. Historical
overviews and timelines set the story of the Japanese American
veteran experience in the context of World War II and U.S. history.
In addition, glossaries, literature lists and fact sheets equip
teachers with the necessary background information for classroom
instruction.
