Rescue of the Lost Battalion

This lesson is about TEAMWORK.

Specifically, this lesson is about a historic event that occured during World War II where a group of United States soldiers used their teamwork to overcome tremendous odds to rescue a group of fellow soldiers who were trapped behind enemy lines.

Lesson Objectives

After finishing this lesson, students will be able to:

• Identify the roles and sacrifices of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in rescuing the Lost Battalion.
• Analyze the Constitutional issues related to the Japanese American internment experience.
• Provide examples of good teamwork.
• Practice good teamwork in a group problem solving exercise.
• Analyze, create, and evaluate possible solutions to a problem.
• Evaluate the teamwork involved in a short movie.
