Q. Why should I volunteer?
A. Volunteers are an essential part of the Go For Broke National Education Center's ability to continue programming that preserves the legacy of Nisei soldiers.

Volunteers work in a safe, clean and pleasant environment and provides a positive, meaningful volunteer experience.

Q. Who can volunteer?
A. Volunteers of all ages, gender and ethnic backgrounds are welcome. Those with many skills or none at all can volunteer.

Q. Can we volunteer as a group?
A. Yes! School, community and church groups are encouraged to volunteer for special events and/or group assignments.

Q. I know other people who may want to help. Can I bring them with me?
A. Definitely! Bring along anyone who is interested in volunteering. Word of mouth is our best source for finding future Go For Broke supporters.

Q. When can I volunteer?
A. The Go For Broke National Education Center is open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and on select Sundays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are also available for special events where hours will vary. For office volunteers, we request a commitment to complete a minimum of six hours per month.

Q. I have no computer skills. Can I still volunteer?
A. We have many on-going projects in several departments that do not require the use of computers. These projects include mailings, answering the phone, collating, stapling documents, etc.

Q. Is attendance at volunteer orientations mandatory?
A. Orientations are not mandatory to begin volunteering but attendance is highly recommended to fully understand Go For Broke's mission, goals and programs.

Q. Is food allowed in Go For Broke's office?
A. Yes, please feel free to bring your lunch. There is a refrigerator for you to store any perishables. Coffee and tea are available for everyone to enjoy.

Q. Is there a dress code?
A. Casual or business attire is the most appropriate. Please, no cut off jeans or jeans with tears or holes, beach sandals, etc.

Q. I can’t come in on a regular basis. How do I find out if you need my help?
A. Contact the Go For Broke National Education Center at (310) 328-0907 or send an email to: volunteer@goforbroke.org. Your name can be placed on an email distribution list for notification of volunteer needs for special events. Also, check for updated descriptions on our Web Site
