Japangeles teams up with GFBNEC

The clothing brand Japangeles recently partnered with Go For Broke National Education Center to create a line of clothes celebrating the Japanese American soldiers of World War II.

The clothing collection was launched on Aug. 24, 2017, with a special event at GFBNEC headquarters in Little Tokyo in downtown Los Angeles.

The clothing line curated by Japangeles includes T-shirts, caps, sweatshirts and hoodies. Many of the items include the "Go For Broke National Education Center" name, with an emphasis on the "Go For Broke" motto used by the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

Some of the clothing also featured three dice, which served as a reference to the motto's origin as a Hawaiian pidgin gambling term. The dice spelled out "4-4-2." Some of the clothes also have the torch insignia used by the 442nd RCT.

Japangeles has two retail locations in Little Tokyo - a small outdoor shopping kiosk in the middle of Japanese Village Plaza, and a recently-opened store on Second Street. A limited quantity of first edition GFBNEC/Japangeles apparel is still available at the front desk of GFBNEC's Defining Courage Exhibition.
