Sleek, Sophisticated and Aggressive: Evening of Aloha 2012 Opportunity Draw

As long-time dinner patrons know, one of the highlights of our Evening of Aloha Gala Dinner is the drawing for a brand new car.
This year, thanks to the generous support of American Honda Motor Co., we are pleased to feature the 2013 Acura TL with Technology Package as our Opportunity Draw prize!
Picture yourself in a car that's described by Forbes Magazine as "ideal for those wanting an athletic and aggressive car that nonetheless treats its occupants to a reasonably smooth ride and an accommodating interior with a generous assortment of high-tech features."

East-West Center Institute Partnership
On June 28th we led a workshop about the Nisei soldier legacy for 32 students and four teachers from across the country as part of the East-West Center's American Youth Leadership Program.
"It was an honor to once again be asked to participate in the East-West Center's summer program," said GFBNEC Hawaii Regional Director Barbara Watanabe. "The 32 students were selected from over 175 applicants, and there were over 60 teachers who vied for the four slots, so needless to say, it was an engaged and dynamic group of individuals who met with us."

Opportunity for Houston Teachers to Meet Nisei Veterans
Our next teacher workshop will be in Houston, Texas at the Harris Country Department of Education Building at 6300 Irvington Boulevard on August 1-2.
A Tradition of Honor is a comprehensive workshop that augments high school US history coursework surrounding World War II. The content is mapped to Texas' content standards.
A highlight of the workshop will be the opportunity for attendees to talk with Japanese American veterans of World War II.
If you know of a Houston high school history teacher, please encourage them to check out our workshop at http://wms.hcde-texas.org/.
Our thanks to Union Bank for its generous support of this workshop.
