Support Our Troops with Care Packages

The Go For Broke National Education Center proudly announces the adoption of the Hawaii Army National Guard's 29th Brigade and the Army Reserve's 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry. Working in partnership with other veterans' organizations, churches, school and other groups, nationwide care packages from the mainland will be sent to more than 1,500 soldiers while they are deployed in Kuwait and Iraq.

Through stories we've heard from WWII Nisei veterans and other soldiers, we know how much care packages boosted their morale while serving overseas. The men and women who now wear the 100th/442nd patch also need our support and appreciation for the sacrifices they are making on behalf of all Americans.

The first care packages were sent to these brave young men and women during the winter holidays. Fifteen hundred additional packages will be sent in March. To get involved with the troop adoption program, the National Education Center would appreciate any assistance in collecting the following items: toothbrushes, travel-sized shampoo, individual packs of wipes, small packages of sunflower seeds or nuts, rice crackers, gum, lollipops, travel-sized puzzle books (crossword, sudoku, etc.), gallon-sized zip-lock bags, and 10 boxes of Avery shipping labels #5264.

Please call Robi Shibao-Martin at the Go For Broke National Education Center to coordinate delivery. We would like to receive the items by February 16, 2009. Robi can be reached at 310-222-5715 or via e-mail at robi@goforbroke.org. Thank you for your support!
