Oral History Video Archive
Go For Broke National Education Center's Oral History Video Archive is the largest online audio/visual resource focused solely on World War II Japanese American veterans. The Archive provides access to the professional-quality interviews taken by the Hanashi Oral History Program, which has been conducting interviews since 1998. A total of 570 full-length interviews are currently online at www.GoForBroke.org.
Join the more than 2,000 people that have already registered to access the Oral History Video Archive by going to www.GoForBroke.org and clicking on the Oral Histories link. Access to the archive is completely free (registration required).
All the interviews are searchable by keyword, name or category. For example, if you wanted to find interview clips about Pearl Harbor, you would simply enter "Pearl Harbor" in the keyword search box and then would receive a list of interview clips where the interviewee mentions Pearl Harbor. The search function has made the Oral History Video Archive very popular among students, teachers and researchers.
The process to archive the interviews online is extremely time-consuming. To put a single interview online, it takes about 15-20 hours of work by the National Education Center's staff and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for such tasks as transcribing interviews or data entry, please send an email to volunteer@goforbroke.org.
