4TH ANNUAL EVENING OF ALOHA
With less than two months to go, final preparations are being made for this year's Evening of Aloha Gala Dinner on Saturday, November 12 at the Anaheim Hilton. An estimated crowd of more than 1,000 guests is expected to be on hand for this wonderful evening of fine cuisine and top-notch entertainment, hallmarks of past Evening of Aloha dinners.
This year's spread features a special menu of regional Hawaiian cuisine created and prepared by celebrity chefs Roy Yamaguchi of Roy's Restaurants worldwide and Russell Siu of Honolulu's 3660 on the Rise, past recipient of Honolulu Advertiser's annual Ilima Awards (People's Choice).
The first course, a salad prepared by the Anaheim Hilton's Executive Chef, Fred Mensinga, will feature Nalo Greens flown in from Hawaii's Waimanalo coast and donated by Nalo Farms. The meal will conclude with a special dessert created especially for Evening of Aloha by King's Hawaiian Bakery and Restaurant.
Ho'okena, Hawaii's longest-lasting music group, will highlight the evening's entertainment. Together since 1986, this group is among the first five Hawaiian music groups to be nominated for a 2005 Grammy Award in the Hawaiian music category. Over the years, Ho'okena has garnered many Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, Hawaii's version of the Grammy Awards. Joining Ho'okena is hula stylist Nani Dudoit, who has performed with the Brothers Cazimero since the late 70s. Also, rounding out the evening's entertainment for the third year is Southern California's own Halau Keali'i O Nalani, founded in 1991 by Kumu Hula Keali'i Ceballos. Serving as Master of Ceremonies for the evening is local KABC-Channel 7 sportscaster Rob Fukuzaki.
Before dinner, the Silent Auction will take place beginning at 5:00 p.m. and feature 200+ items. The dinner and program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The price for individual tickets is $135 per person; $125 for veterans and spouses. All proceeds from Evening of Aloha help fund the Educational Foundation's many programs throughout the year. For general information, please contact Steff Tamehiro at 310-222-5706 or Steffanie@GoForBroke.org.
