Local Volunteer Coordinator
Classification:
Part-time Employee - Hourly
16 hours/week
Mon. & Weds.
Purpose:
Responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the organization involving local volunteers.
- Skills Assessment: Develop and implement a plan to assess volunteer skill sets, availability and areas of interest
- RE Tracking and Reporting: Utilize Raiser's Edge to create a comprehensive volunteer database including tracking and reporting volunteer hours, as well as logging details obtained from the skills assessment. Input data weekly.
- Record Keeping: Update RE with volunteer profile and emergency information. Update weekly.
- Training: Provide new volunteer orientation and training sessions, as needed.
- Monument: Assess the Monument docent program and make recommendations for future operations - understand visitor trends (i.e. volume, days of the week, age range, etc), types of questions asked by visitors, usage of kiosk, type and volume of collateral passed out, merchandise sold, donations received, etc. Assess the Monument maintenance and make recommendation for future operations – what type of maintenance is needed, how much does it cost, what is being handled by docents, what are future needs and costs, etc.
- Speaker's Bureau: Assess the Speaker's Bureau program and provide recommendation for the future. Work with Sr. Mgmt. to prioritize speaking engagement participation for APH month and other "must do" engagements for the year. Secure and coordinate veterans for each speaking engagement.
- Needs Assessment: Assess office operations with each department and identify administrative tasks that can be handled weekly by regular office volunteers.
- Mailings: Manage and oversee all bulk mailings, including but not limited to meeting with Development to understand what needs to be done and the deadline, assessing inventory and ordering of supplies, printing of address labels, recruitment of volunteers, pre-mailing set-up, volunteers instructions, post office mailing, progress reports to Development, post-mailing clean-up.
- Communication: Keep volunteers updated on current volunteer opportunities. Re-establish contact with past volunteers and organizations that have supplied volunteers for GFBNEC events.
- Awareness: Work with the Southbay Volunteer Center to increase awareness and recruit new volunteers
- Merchandise: Create a plan to meet Merchandise needs utilizing volunteers
- Management Reporting: Meet with the COO weekly to provide status updates
Qualifications:
- Experience working with volunteers or being a volunteer
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good organizational and follow-up skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to train and motivate volunteers and trainees
- Ability to manage and coordinate volunteer services that support the needs of the organization
- High school diploma, some college preferred
- Experience using MS Office Suite
- Raiser's Edge knowledge (a plus)
