Position:
Hanashi Oral History Program Coordinator
Purpose:
The Hanashi Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and operations of the Hanashi Oral History Program to document and preserve the life stories of the Japanese American WWII veterans through the collection and maintenance of the oral history archive.
Reports to:
Chief Operating Officer
Major Duties:
- Oversee coordination of approximately 10-15 interview trips across the U.S. per year, including paperwork, travel arrangements, volunteer and interviewee communication, and finances
- Act as liaison between Hanashi volunteers and Educational Foundation staff
- Coordinate various volunteer committees
- Responsible for outreach to new volunteers and potential interviewees
- Responsible for training of new and current volunteers
- Maintain files, technical equipment, and videotapes in existing archive
- Maintain relationships with corporate donors, past interviewees and key veteran organizations throughout the U.S.
- Assist in the program department as necessary
Time Commitment:
40 hours/week, occasional weekends and evenings
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to learn, especially camera/lighting production aspect
- Production background a plus
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Ability to work occasional events and weekends
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
