Position:
Communications Manager
Purpose:
The Communications Manager is responsible for the overall public relations and external communications for the organization. The candidate will develop and implement creative communications strategies to meet the organization’s mission and goals through media relations and public outreach initiatives.
Reports to:
President and CEO
Major Duties:
- Media Relations - press release writing and distribution, fielding media inquiries, pitching newsworthy local and national stories
- Newsletter - guide overall strategy of quarterly national newsletter, write articles, edit content, work with contributing writers and staff
- eNews - guide overall strategy of quarterly eNews, edit content, work with content contributors and staff, and write articles as needed
- Annual Report - coordinate approach and editorial content of annual report, draft and edit content working with both graphics and development departments
- Strategic counsel - work with senior management to craft messaging documents and other corporate communications materials, and provide strategic direction for media and external communications to meet organization’s overall mission and goals
- Collateral materials - direct content and design, working with graphic designer to create collateral materials for both development and program initiatives
Time Commitment:
40 hours/week
Qualifications:
- Minimum four years public relations and/or communications experience
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and in team environment
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
