INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Go For Broke National Education Center – Torrance, California
Position:
Public Relations/Communications Intern
Purpose:
To learn skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment working with the communications director on media relations and community outreach programs.
Major Duties:
- Write press materials such as press releases, pitch letter, articles, fact sheets and background materials for Go For Broke's press kit
- Research and create media lists for specific press events
- Seek speakers bureau opportunities for key staff and board of directors
- Evaluate community groups and organizations that may be possible partners for outreach opportunities
Time Commitment:
Minimum 8 hrs/week (4-hour blocks preferred)
Number of Interns needed:
1-2
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of public relations, communications and/or journalism
- Minimum two classes in communications, public relations and/or journalism
- Excellent computer skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Interest in non-profit/community relations a plus
