Position:
Public Relations/Communications Intern

Purpose:
To learn skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment working with the communications director on media relations and community outreach programs.

Major Duties:

• Write press materials such as press releases, pitch letter, articles, fact sheets and background materials for Go For Broke's press kit
• Research and create media lists for specific press events
• Seek speakers bureau opportunities for key staff and board of directors
• Evaluate community groups and organizations that may be possible partners for outreach opportunities

Time Commitment:
Minimum 8 hrs/week (4-hour blocks preferred)

Number of Interns needed:
1-2

Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of public relations, communications and/or journalism
• Minimum two classes in communications, public relations and/or journalism
• Excellent computer skills
• Good organizational skills
• Good communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Interest in non-profit/community relations a plus

Compensation:
Stipend
