Go For Broke National Education Center – Torrance, California
Position:
Hanashi Production Intern
Purpose:
To gain a hands-on experience in coordinating video documentary production (pre-production, production & post-production/distribution) while assisting the Hanashi Oral History Program in collecting the life histories of Japanese American World War II veterans.
Major Duties:
- Assist in pre-production phase
(Maintain and organize potential interviewee lists, research history of military units that interviewees served in, assist in preparing interview scheduling/paperwork/correspondence, and coordinating with volunteer crews) - Assist in production phase
(gain hands-on experience with HDV broadcast quality video production while assisting on at least two interview crews) - Assist in post-production/distribution
(Filing of interview paperwork/releases, sending out correspondence & dubbing sub masters & preview copies and/or supervising volunteers performing dubbing while maintaining quality control, preparing masters for archiving and sending out correspondence & dubs to interviewees)
Time Commitment:
Minimum 2 days a week (full days preferred)

Qualifications:
- Interest in learning documentary video production within the context of a nonprofit organization’s oral history program.
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word
- Good organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
