INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Go For Broke National Education Center – Torrance, California


Position:
Oral History Research/Writing Intern

Purpose:
To assist in focused research for upcoming interviews with Japanese American World War II veterans for the Hanashi Oral History Program.

Major Duties:

  • Research upcoming interviewee’s respective unit and prepare brief annotated historical summaries for interviewers to use during the veteran interview.
  • Research and summarize any publications that the veteran interviewee may have appeared in or been referenced in.
  • Cross reference the veteran’s military information with the Hanashi Oral History Program video archive to locate any references from previously interviewed veterans who served in the same unit as the upcoming interviewee.
  • Organize/Compile potential veteran interviewee lists.
  • Assist in research to locate potential interviewees.

Time Commitment:
Minimum 8 hrs/week

Number of Interns needed:
1-2

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of Japanese American history in the United States.
  • Good research skills
  • Ability to work independently on tasks
  • Computer & Internet literate

Compensation:
