INTERN PROGRAM
Launched in summer of 2002, the intern program is designed to foster better relationships between Go For Broke, veterans, and the younger generations, provide college students with meaningful work experience with a community-based organization, as well as to cultivate future leaders in our community. Opportunities are available in the following areas:
www.GoForBroke.org - Suitable for students with Web design experience and also English majors or those interested in writing Web content. Projects include researching, writing, updating, and creating Web content.
Communications/PR - Suitable for students interested in communications, marketing, or PR. Projects include writing press materials, researching and creating media lists; and evaluating outreach opportunities. Students will gain invaluable skills for media relations and community outreach.
Research/ Resource Center - Suitable for students interested in information studies or library science. Projects include developing and cataloguing comprehensive collections of resources on Japanese Americans and researching academic inquiries. Students will gain experience in research, cataloguing, and selection and acquisition.
Hanashi Oral History Program – Suitable for students interested in gaining experience with video documentary production. Also appropriate for history majors or students interested in compiling research for historical summaries. Projects include assisting in pre-production, production and post-productions/distribution phases; researching background information for upcoming interviews with Japanese American WWII veterans; and scouting potential interviewees.
Volunteer Management – Suitable for students interested in working with volunteers ages 16+. Projects include managing databases, coordinating volunteer assignments, creating retention programs and outreaching with various community groups.
