In Our Heroes’ Footsteps. . . Steps That Uphold The World War II Veteran Legacy

Take an important step to uphold the legacy of Japanese American World War II veterans by making a permanent tribute. Because of their uncommon heroism, the Nisei World War II veterans have helped guarantee that future generations would not have to live through the hardships and injustices they endured. As gratitude, families and the public can help ensure their unwavering patriotism is remembered by purchasing a name engraving on the footsteps surrounding the Go For Broke Monument.

In Our Heroes’ Footsteps offers ALL direct descendants of Nisei WWII veterans (siblings, children, nieces/nephews, grandchildren, direct descendant spouses – regardless of age) the opportunity to have their names engraved at the base of the Monument. Additionally, all children, regardless of kinship to a WWII veteran, 18 years and under can have their names engraved.

Parameters/guidelines for name submissions:

• Only one-name entries are permitted.
  (i.e. Mr & Mrs Kato or The Kato Family are not allowed)
• Professional titles and suffixes are not allowed.
  (i.e. Mr, Mrs, Hon, Esq, etc.)
• Jr, Sr, II, IV, etc., are acceptable.

Decisions on name submissions and eligibility will be left to the
discretion of the In Our Heroes’ Footsteps Campaign Committee.
(In some instances, a copy of legal birth certificate may be required.)

The committee will try to keep families grouped together,
as long as names are submitted together.

Names will be randomly etched to maximize space.

Those interested in having a name(s) engraved on the Monument footsteps can receive a discount by becoming members of the Go For Broke National Education Center. Go For Broke National Education Center membership is $35 for individuals, $25 for veterans and $15 for students. Premium membership levels start at $100. Cost per engraving is $150. Go For Broke National Education Center members receive a special rate of $100 per engraving.
