Please join the Go For Broke National Education Center as it kicks off its $20 for 20 campaign!
The National Education Center is asking its supporters to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary by donating $20 for 20 years of service. Since 1989, the National Education Center has achieved numerous accomplishments to ensure the American story of a unique group of World War II veterans who rose above mistrust and suspicion to defend America is preserved and educated:
- Dedicating the Go For Broke Monument in 1999, located in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district, which pays tribute to the Japanese American WWII soldiers who served overseas
- Videotaping more than 950 oral histories in the U.S. and Japan through the Hanashi Oral History Program; 700 oral histories can be viewed at www.GoForBroke.org
- Training nearly 2,000 teachers through its American Story Teacher Training Program who, in turn, have taught thousands of students the veterans' story and the values of citizenship, patriotism, and leadership that shaped their service
- Utilizing technology to create digital curriculum and other interactive educational programs, and creation of a comprehensive veteran database for all Japanese American WWII veterans
Plus, the National Education Center continues to assist educators, students, historians, filmmakers and others in their research on the WWII experience and veterans.
By donating a $1 (or more) for each year the National Education Center has been around will help us continue these and other educational and preservation programming. Our goal is to reach $20,000 in the first quarter of 2009.
Thank you for supporting our first 20 years...please support our next 20.
We must never forget!
